The Poetic Game by Michael E. Quigg - combining soccer and poetry

It's a miracle! For the French I am routing

My usual demeanor this is not suiting

But after the last disaster

They must have seen the pastor,

who gave a miracle! For the French I am routing

You're for-once-low expectations were correct!

Because last time I checked,

All of you wilt in the heat

No matter which opponent you meet

So you're for-once-low expectations were correct!

Few nations can equal your unfitting arrogance

Claiming to be Travolta when you can't even dance

Perhaps your problem is there

It's your own ego you must beware

Because few nations can equal your arrogance

Your choice of voice was barely a whisper

Harder to make out than if from a lisper

It’s one thing to come up short

But for duty you didn't even report

Your choice of voice was barely a whisper
